Similar to the $2.50 and $10 Liberty coins, the $5 Half Eagle features Lady Liberty on the obverse, adorned with a coronet and surrounded by stars. The reverse displays a bald eagle with outstretched wings, clutching arrows and a shield. The motto "In God We Trust" was added to the reverse in 1866.
Minted at five different U.S. mints, the $5 Half Eagle enjoyed a long production run, contributing significantly to the nation's monetary system.
