Silver 90% Bag – $500 Face Value
Pre-1965 U.S. dimes and quarters contained 90% silver and 10% copper. These circulated coins are often packaged in $500 face value bags. Each bag holds approximately 357.5 troy ounces of pure silver. While less common, 40% silver half dollars can also be found in circulation.
These bags of coins are often referred to as "junk silver," a term that reflects their circulated condition rather than their silver content.
